Hollywood, CA- The new Apple Original film, Emancipation, starring infamous slapper Will Smith, is now streaming on Apple TV+. However, director Antoine Fuqua announced the original screenplay has been tweaked slightly after Will Smith slapped his wife’s name out of Chris Rock’s mouth at the 2022 Oscars.

Fuqua explained that he was “moved” by Will Smith’s slapping incident and wanted to implement that passion into the film. “We were already deep into the editing portion when the Oscar’s incident happened, but Will’s ability to slap was something we had to get into this movie,” Fuqua told TOA staff last week. “I knew that if Will could slap slave masters with the same amount of fervor he had when he slapped Chris Rock, then we would have an Oscar-worthy performance on our hands.”

Oscar buzz is always prevalent when Will Smith releases a new movie, and it should be no different with ‘Emancipation.’ Rave reviews are already coming out for this film, setting a Guinness Book of World Records for “Most Slaps In A Motion Picture” with a whopping 287. “I had to have a skin graft on part of my hand after filming due to the amount of times I slapped people,” Smith explained at the premiere, “To get 287 perfect slaps on film, I bet I had to slap 1,000 times to get it right.”

Talks of a sequel have already started to pop up as Fuqua has alluded to the possibility that Will's character is “Owed reparations in the form of slapping white people.” He kept the details close-to-the-cuff but if that quote is any indication, we might be seeing a new slapping record once again.
