Hollywood, CA- In the light of successful recent releases that feature African-American in lead roles, such as Wakanda Forever and Black Panther, Disney has stepped in and announced that they are ready to announce the release of their own ‘woke’ adaptation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
“There wasn’t a single African-American actor in the original Willy Wonka,” said director James Cameron, “And I made sure to make up for that and then some with this remake.” Our staff here at The Offended American got an advanced screening of the remake aptly named Tyrone and the Cracker Factory.
The only part of the cast that is white are the Oompa Loompas. As they come out to sing their songs sounding very white, each song is a different Lil Wayne explicit rap cover including songs like ‘My Homies Still,’ ‘6 Foot 7 Foot,’ and ‘Shoes.’ “We wanted this movie to be raw and real,” Cameron said, “So this is an R-rated film that shows the reality behind Tyrone building a cracker factory up from scratch in a time that black people didn’t have the opportunities of white people.”
The film, set in the 1960’s, shows Tyrone’s humble beginnings baking his own crackers in his grandmother's kitchen in a rundown apartment in Harlem. As the movie builds to its climax you see Tyrone doing the griddy through a field of cracker flavored flowers that you can eat right in the middle of the factory; in homage to the original, Tyrone even goes through licking cracker flavored wallpaper.
“The word crackers does have a dual meaning in the title here, no doubt,” Cameron admitted, “I’m just so tired of white people at this point in my life that I don’t mind throwing a little shade their way.” Cameron did say that he believes this is his best work to date and would put it up against great accomplishments like Titanic and Avatar. Tyrone and the Cracker Factory is set for release later this summer.
